Let’s get going

Ever feel like you’re on the cusp of something big, a new adventure that could redefine your career? That’s exactly how I feel right now. After years in software testing, I’m diving headfirst into the world of penetration testing and security.

My software testing career started in 2007, and since then, I’ve had the opportunity to touch almost every aspect of software development. This broad experience has given me a solid foundation, but I’ve always been drawn to the challenges and intricacies of security. It’s the constant learning, the puzzle of thinking like an attacker, that truly fascinates me.

I reached out to a well-known local security expert, honestly not expecting much – maybe a quick reply with a resource or two. It was a pleasant surprise they generously wanted to meet, and that conversation was incredibly motivating, solidifying my desire to go down this path. It reminded me of the importance of simply asking (the worst you get is a no). From there, they pointed me towards Jason Haddix’s Bug Hunter’s Methodology LIVE course. The 3-day course was a fantastic kickstart into bug hunting and taking a deeper dive into penetration testing. One piece of advice from Jason, in particular, has stuck with me: ‘If you’re not blogging, start now.’

So, here I am. This blog is primarily for me – a place to track my progress, solidify my learning, and keep myself accountable.
